I wonder if this was not used because the Defender is expected to be used at extreme angles off road and it would trigger false low level warnings? Just a thought, but it could explain why something potentially very useful in protecting your engine is not used. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

According to the MY2012 workshop manual it‘s an oil level AND temperature sensor, of which only the temperature is used.
It’s connected to the ECM with black a 3 pin connector (C2257) ![]() Click image to enlarge |
