2011 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Keswick Green

Hardtop loadsoace matting options

I need a new loadspace mat for a Puma 90 Hardtop, is the Exmoor Trim option worth considering? A bit of sound proofing would be good but not essential, non slip is essential.

I cut down a thickish (3/4 inch roughly) rubber stable mat for the back of my old 110 300tdi Hardtop, certainly non slip and damped the noise down alot. Cheaper than most alternatives as well.

I also used stable matting from my local country store, two thicknesses available, I used the thinner one.
I think it was about £40/sheet a couple of years ago.

Thats what i use in the back of my pick up to give the dogs a bit of cushioning from the chequer plate. Definitely non slip.

2012 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 SW Santorini Black

I got some pre cut, checker plate effect plastic matting with the edges hemmed for £10 from Newbury 4x4 show last weekend. I'm very happy with it , especially for the price. I plan on fitting the rear with soundproofing and carpet soon to go under it

watching with interest - horse matting sounds the ideal solution - is it easy to cut? A friend recommended gym interlocking mats.

I have linexed my floor but my dog slips on the surface - it doesn't scratch it but isn't handy for her.

+2 and it made a massive difference to sound deadening

I used a sound insulation and then added ply wood which i screwed down although i do use it for work ie mowers etc but you then could put a mat on top

I have a piece of rock crusher conveyor belt in mine. 3/4” or so thick and very heavy.

Same principle as the stable matting, but free

Stable matting is a good idea for load area flooring but it is heavy, an advantage 'cos it doesn't move around but it is not the easiest material to cut. Defender 90XS SW
