Ah, interesting. What appears to be the same guy also said this, which I took to mean that he'd been hit by another car, causing the roll: Darren 110 USW BUILD THREAD - EXPEDITION TRAILER - 200tdi 90 BUILD THREAD - SANKEY TRAILER - IG@landroveranorak "You came in that thing? I hope the Duke and everyone else involved is Ok.
The Aussie Press likes to make a big deal of older drivers being involved in a crash even when clearly it's not their fault. The truth is that older drivers are an extreme minority when it comes to auto accidents. Pickles. |

Am I the only one who is incredibly bored and irritated by the press going on about it. Turned the news off earlier when some journalist was re-enacting the Dukes journey with lots of paps waiting in a lay-by cameras poised. Then the big speculation about a new Land Rover delivery .... well it’s no surprise a Royal prangs a car then a replacement turns up sharpish.
By all means report it once then move on to more worthy news headlines! |

lots of young people crash, however as we get older our senses and reflexes can/do deteriorate and we have a responsibility to acknowledge this. The Prince is lucky that he has private land to drive around and lots of people whom would drive him about on the road, I expect we might never see him driving on public roads again. It looks like his replacement car is actually a Freelander 2, which is a bit of a surprise. They must have a stock in reserve. Darren

All the Royal news coverage is ridiculous. Has been for years. Take their titles away and it's even more of a joke. 'Old man crashes car', 'Young couple get married ' 'Woman gets pregnant ' etc. However in this case I think it's actually a pleasant respite from the wall to wall Brexit snooze-fest. |

I imagine the vehicles the Royals use are far from the type of thing you and I use. Surely his defunct Freelander had (amongst other measures) extensive ballistic and ied protection? This type of security cant be fitted overnight? I expect vehicles are ordered in batches so there are always reserves that can be put into use at a moments notice. Of course, all this extra weight from armour and ballistic glass would add top end weight and would compromise the stability of the vehicle increasing the risk of a roll? Or have I been reading too many James Bond novels? |

….and whilst I have my typing head on...…
I'm yet to be convinced there is such a thing as a dangerous road. However, there are plenty of road users who do not drive/ride/otherwise use the highway in an appropriate manner having either failed to perceive the hazards or have chosen to ignore them. |

Whilst ceremonial vehicles might be protected, I doubt that the everyday vehicles are. In fact, one or two of them have come up for sale over the years and the royal mods tend towards things like extra grab handles and plusher carpets.
