Front passenger seat belts
My passenger keeps getting the front seat belt caught in the door to the point where it is quote frayed and failed it MOT

Tried searching on here but looks like I'm looking at circa £160 to replace the entire mechanism - any other options?

There are a few reputable suppliers on eBay of seatbelts for much less than your quoted price. Advance Factors (site sponsore) sell them at £60 and I can’t fault them, quick delivery and great to deal with Thumbs Up

Might be worth investing in these:

I have the same issue with mine, on the passenger side as well.

Although no problem with MOT as its only marking to the belt.
I think it's because of it being on the left side when the passenger gets out they are more likely to slide it around to the side.

Drivers side more likely to hook yourself on the door latch instead. Rolling Eyes Rolling with laughter Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

Same prob here! I’ve swapped both my belts out for new red ones (cheaper and snazzy!), put on the x-trouser door strikers, sprayed the belts with silicon spray and still have the same problem😞
For me it seems to originate with the belts folding slightly as they retract (due to angle to belt from pillar), the folded belt then fills the reel up before all the belt is retracted, so more belt is left out and this gets caught in the door.
SO I’ve just ordered two of these sleeves, I’m going to put them on the belt immediately above the reel so that the belt always feeds in flat. Will update if this helps!!

Unbolt the passenger seat and take it back for MOT without the seat. Laughing

Gives you and excuse to make your passenger walk too, they should take more care of your car. Wink

Passenger doesn't like travelling in there anyway - says it's a farm vehicle

I have ordered the Wolf plastic thing that moves the belt forward a bit - let's see

Got the belt from Exmoor Trim in the end - but available from LR parts for circa £40

The Exmooor trim seatbelts fit fine. Small issue but the inertia reel part is slightly too large for the LR cover to go back on. But looks fine without the cover.

The cover has some plastic screws holding it in place - not sure what screw head type they are - look like phillips but I just seemed to destroy the head - had to make a slot with a carpet knife and use a standard slotted screwdriver to remove the cover.

I didn't replace the bit the buckle goes into - the one provided is on a long stalk which is quite different from what is already there.
