Fuel leak :-(
After a good weekend of fixing a boat gear selector and tracing wiring faults, then Sunday doing recovery training in the 110 and then Monday out doing rescue for a Landy comp safari event Monday eve the 110 decided that it didn’t like my fuel and decided to give me a leak.

A leak that bad there are diesel spots all over the rear spare wheel, x member, towbar legs, fuel tank and on the drive.

Had a quick look and appears to be from the top of the tank. Even starting the car up and driving up and down the drive to turn around results in a puddle and lumpy idling until its be ran for a minute or so.

Is there a common leak from the top of the fuel tank? 1999 Defender TD5 110

Hello excossack

Yes.

Probably not the Tank but the Fuel Breather Pipe attached here...
a Search on D2N will show this particular LR feature... Shocked

Good Luck SKIP

Thanks, I will take a look. I do have a spare one, as I had spotted the end of the pipe that goes to the filler neck was showing signs of it splitting.

When I had a look the top of the tanks was certainly wet but could not locate exactly where (unless fuel breather being split is squirting the fuel out and then running down from the top of the tank? There is wetness on the passenger side of the tank guard. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Cheers. I had a quick look this morning and now it raining.
Decided to send the 110 into the garage as I am lacking in time this week, but I will be sure to mention the possible split hose to the mechanic. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Mine is just under half full and dripping well but only with fuel pump going. So what it will be like driving, no idea! 1999 Defender TD5 110

Mine only did it with a fairly full tank as well, I assumed it was when sloshing about and exiting through the breathers.

When fuel pump running would probably indicate one of the fuel pump lines instead?

I was leaning towards a return hose as it take 10/20 seconds before fuel starts leaking 1999 Defender TD5 110

110 is in the garage having its rear end fiddled with. Last seen the fuel was being drained. 1999 Defender TD5 110

All fixed. Turned out to be a fuel hose at the top of the tank. As you look at the fuel pump from the rear, it was the pipe nearest to the drivers side. (Low pressure return line?) 1999 Defender TD5 110
