And for my next trick , i’ll remove my 3/4 full but leaking tank and put it up top , have ordered some metal to make a cradle and some new pipes too , Christ it was heavy , the wood shelf helped me move it along

Cool , I can get a galvanised cradle brand new for 70 quid , will remove the two uprights that my piece of wood is on and mount the cradle as low as poss , but high enough so the a frame but don’t hit it and the exhaust may get a cut and re-route too Very Happy

Thank you Thumbs Up

A little update , i’ve bashed my original cradle fairly flat and positioned in the back , and it works very well indeed , i’ll Still cut out the little uprights and put the cradle down onto the chassis , i’ll weld nuts into the chassis towards the rear and make a bracket at the front to hold to the bulkhead . Will but n bolt it for ease of removal , the pipes sit well on the back on the tank , 4 easy cuts , spin the connector 180 and plug in . Will use a short piece of rubber to join , will rachette the tank to the cradle . May even get a new cradle one day

Red paint has been ordered Thumbs Up in the mean time , it’s all piped, wired and tested , all all appears fine , next Sunday is pit day , so i’ve thrown the rest of it back together and if all goes well all the pit , i’ll make it permanent

So today I popped out to test the new tank position and pipe work , the defender minus roof too , it was superb weather , well the tank was ok , but the bulkhead split , turns out a previous owner had repaired with fibreglass filler , a quick patch done , repair panels another day , also noticed a dry bearing noise , the viscous fan housing fan is rather shot , and just to top it off , the steering pump has sprung a leak , more jobs after tomorrow’s pit run

A superb pit morning , except the lake was a smidge deep and upon filling the cab , I Censored up some relays , I switched her off to have a cuppa , but upon restart , she did not , so al relays emptied , and still no luck , except now she would start , then stop , much head scratching and I pulled the crank speed connector , tip out the water and off we went , this little defender is the mutts nuts , next up , viscous bearing , SKF bearing ordered Thumbs Up I got 5 weeks to fix it , lovely jubbly
