Matrix

Please go easy on me I am a newbie!
I am looking for a bit of advice from the experts on here.
I believe my matrix has failed as the last few months I have noticed water on the passenger mat. Just recently my heater has failed, only blows hot when accelerating, I have also noticed bubbles/foaming in expansion tank. Would I be right in thinking that the matrix is the culprit?
Also does the dash have to be fully or partially removed to replace matrix?
How many hours would this take a mechanic and what's a fair price to pay?

Bubbles in the expansion tank might be a head gasket gone - get a 'sniff test' done at a local garage to check for combustion gasses in the coolant

Matrix is a dash out job I believe

Gasket

I have checked obvious signs for head gasket such as no white smoke from exhaust, oil cap has no creamy white -looks normal. Oil looks very dark and normal.
I will get it tested at garage
Any other suggestions apart from head gasket?

If you have antifreeze in your cooling system then a quick taste of the water on your mat should identify water coming from the cooling system. Just a quick lick of a dipped finger, as antifreeze is supposed to be harmful, but probably only if you drink it by the pint!
