Heater blower fan
Hi all

My heater blower fan has stopped working, and blew a fuse which I changed, so the cigarette lighter is now working again. However when it went it made a very strange noise under the bonnet so I undid the cowl and tried to turn the fan by hand but it won't turn?

How easy is it to replace the fan once the heater unit is out?

Thanks

if its a td5 the motor cost a small fortune compared to earlier ones as you have to buy the full heater box and can't get just the motor.

How ever if you get a cheaper early fan you can grind and cut some of the locating pegs and then drill and rivit the remaining ones. It cost me about 70 quid vs about 240 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)

Thanks for the reply guys, I've tried again to move the fan by hand still no joy.

I can't seem to find any TD5 Heater Assembly boxes anywhere not even on ebay?

Its really annoying I can't just change the fan motor.

Does anybody have any part numbers?

Here is a pic through the top vent.

Does it look out of line, knackered?

Thanks

fit a fan from a earlier model 200 or 300 it's not hard to make it fit and seal. It does involve grinding, drilling and riveting but it's not hard 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car)

I'd give that a really good spray of WD40 straight down the hole twice a day for 2 or 3 days, trying to turn it by hand each time. I have freed off several this way.

Thanks guys, being a novice I will try the WD40 for a few days. If not I will take out the Heater Box Assembly.

I assume the earlier motors have the same electrical connectors?

THanks

I'm not getting 12v on the purple /green wire connecting to the bulkhead or the 3 way connector switch or at the blower switches at the dash.

However I am getting 12v at the fuse box? 2001 90 TD5 CSW Alveston Red Manual
