Check the swivel seals.

Yup, that was my first thought, but obviously front only...

Take a look on the inside face of the front tyres, should be radial patterned drips. And gunk around the bottom of the swivel balls. Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Diff oil making its way along the shafts?

A few seals/systems in the way, but it is possible.

Maybe inner hub oil seals. One went recently on mine and the oil seemed to get everywhere on the back wheel. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

Clean it off, park it on a slope, see what you get.

Also check level of oil in the diff (flat surface again, dunk your little finger in the filler). Solved the bowel problem, working on the consonants...

Hub oil seal. You need to sort it since the brake disk and pads will be saturated and ineffective.

Is it not FTC5268, the stub axle seal? As far as I know diff oil shouldn't be getting through to the hub and bearings in any large quantity.

Yep, hub inner oil seal or possibly drive member dust cap. That said it would have been just as quick to whip the wheel off and find out for certain. Steve.
