JOW, very nice, so you took the plunge in the end! Good to hear you're happy with it, well done Thumbs Up With the intercooler and hoses, I imagine you're probably pushing close to 180 BHP and up to 500 Nm? I'm over the moon with just the 165/480 thanks to remap only, so yours must be juicy Mr. Green MY15 Aintree 110 SW - for sale - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic82781.html

Green Machine - The colour coded mirror backs came from a chap called Nathan Calvert who regularly posts on the Angry Pumas Facebook page, I just messaged him there. The box came with postage paid by L.R. Series Ltd. James

jk84 - to be honest I don't know exact figures as I didn't put it on the rolling road.

The figures for the remap it's self are 165-170bhp & 440-450Nm and I'm not sure if the intercooler and hoses will change this? I felt with the boast of 50hp, particularly when towing the intercooler was essential, the new intercooler is a work of art, it's a shame its hidden, and is way bigger and thicker then the original and has been thoroughly tested to be provide the optimum performance.

The difference it all makes is just amazing, not just the more rapid acceleration and power, but just the smoothness of power application is just much better. Very pleased with it. As a side note for those interested it only added £30 to my insurance premium. James

United Kingdom 2012 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Orkney Grey
Finally thought I'd better get round to write up the full list of mods I had done at Far Corners in St. Neots. This work was done in two visits in March and July. Nothing too exciting but all worth while improvements for everyday usability. I'm really pleased with all the work. So what did we have done:-

Full sound proofing - after much research I decided to go with Skinz throughout, being as good as Dynamat but slightly cheaper. Our XS had carpets and mats but still had some areas of bare metal showing on the interior. This has now all been covered with Skinz and where necessary some additional carpet/covering was added. I used to find the Defender was at its noisiest in the rain with the splash in the wheel arches. Therefore one area in particular I felt important to cover was the front of the rear wheel arch (under the middle row seats) which was bare metal and is now covered. The result of the sound proofing is a big improvement. Up to 40mph its much much quieter, over this speed the wind noise does pick up but it is still much better than standard. Almost the best bit is the reassuring thud when closing the doors rather than the clatter.

Underseal - Full underbody clean and Dinitrol rust treatment, including doors, tailgate, bulkhead and headlight enclosures to improve longevity.

Third Interior light - Whilst the interior was stripped out it seemed sensible to add a third interior light above the middle row seat. Why it doesn't have one here as standard is beyond me. I want to change these to LED but can't decide whether to just change the bulb or the whole fitting to something like the MUD Stuff red/white light.

Tracker - Decided to go with a relatively cheap tracker but full of features. It can track live online any time, set up speed alarms, numerous geofences, battery cut warning, text, call or email alerts. Can even call the tracker and listen in on the vehicle (very useful to hear what a thief might be chatting about I'm sure!). It has facilities for fuel cut off and SOS alerts. And the best bit it's only £10 per year subscription!

Wheel Spacers - added Terrafirma 30mm wheel spacers and had steering stops adjusted accordingly. The improvement in turning circle is incredible, I can actually park it first time now Embarassed, almost car like! I also much prefer the wider stance, whether it is any more stable I'm not sure and suspect the effect is minimal. The spacer are a stop gap until I can decide on new wheels with a better off-set.

Gwyn Lewis Mud Flap Extensions and wheel arch liners - With the wheel spacer I wanted to add these to cut down on the mud splatter and they work very well. I just need to sort out getting some Dirt D-Fenders for the rear.

BBUS relocation - used the FCX wiring loom to relocate the sounder to a more secure location. It also has an additional bonnet switch which will sound the alarm if the bonnet is removed.

Door lock removal - Had the driver's door handle with the key entry lock swapped for a rear door handle with no lock. Just meant as another small deterrent to thieves and if I have to get in with the key I'll have to go through the back door.

Power sockets - again whilst the interior was stripped I wanted additional power points added. I'm sure it won't be long before the kids want to charge tablets and mobiles from the middle row and I wanted to the run sat nav from the glove box to avoid trailing cables and also add one to the far rear in case i ever want a fridge. I didn't really want to cut into the cubby box. Firstly, cos I really want everything I do to be able to return to original, but more importantly I didn't want to lose space in the cubby. Far Corners suggested one of their sub-woofer boxes under the cubby and it ticked all the boxes. It also has the added benefit of raising the cubby to elbow height and is now very comfortable. In raising the cubby it moves it to be flush at the back, making more room for low/high gear lever. I also have room for additional switches in the future. Since I was having the sub-woofer box, I thought it would be silly not to fit the actual sub-woofer Neutral

Seat Risers - It's no secret the middle row seats are very upright and we found the kids always slumped forward in their car seats when asleep, so I wanted to tip them back a bit. I was going to fit the Exmoor/Hofele seat riser but Far Corners developed a complete new bracket to match the original but just taller. Result is significantly more comfortable seating and they still fold forward as normal. The added bonus is my pedal lock now fits securely under the seats.

Stainless Bolts - the door hinge bolts were starting to rust so changed them all to stainless. Also added ball bearing to the bolt heads as another theft deterrent.

LED Lights - With my LED headlight upgrade it made the side lights look wrong (too orange) so I've had Wipac LED lights throughout. Also reduces electrical load through the switch which may help (just an excuse to get them really)?! I really couldn't deicide whether to go all white or coloured on the rear, I chose all white but turned up with coloured fitted, I think maybe the better choice?! I also doubled up on the reversing and fog lights, mostly to improve light reversing, but also makes it symmetrical. The photo shows fogs on the outside but this has now been swapped to move fogs to the inside away from the indicators.

Underbody Protection - Added a steering guard and diff guards front and rear. Didn't know what steering guard I was getting as it was a new Far Corners product, but I am extremely pleased with it! It is very strong and clamps to both sides of both chassis rails to reduce chances of twisting. I chose to have the towing eyes but it is available without. Not easy to photograph as it is quite discreet.

You can see how badly corroded the bumper is and that is my next job. Already purchased refurbished Twisted DRL bumper from LRO Show, so just need to get it fitted and wired.

Next on the list is new wheels, I did lots of looking at the LRO Show, but I'll probably best discuss this another time......
(needless to say I'm keeping an eye out for a great too good to miss deal on second hand Bowler or Twisted wheels (possible Manta) in either 16" or 18" which may make my decision for me) Whistle James

Interested in those middle row brackets, can you post a link as I cant see them on their site.

Also can you give a little more info on the effect ie. change in base and back angle plus height?

Thanks

OK from memory the seat risers raise the front of the seat by about 2", which I guess tips the seat backwards by the same 2"? I don't know what the original dimensions were but from floor to front of seat is now 17" and top of seat back to door opening is 10", I'd be interest to here what the original dims are? Sorry for the poor quality photos but it was dark this morning.

As for cost you'd better ask Far Corners. They were a new product they developed so I got them for the same price as the Exmoor/Hofele risers which was around £150. But give Kris a call 07979 240932, mention my recommendation (James Williams). They don't seem to have found there way on to the website yet.

They make the middle row of seats much more comfortable and I would highly recommend.

Green laning day out around Ely, March and Chatteris. Kindly and very well organised and lead by Merlin. Nothing too serious, but did have to contend with gated tracks, Railway underpass we couldn't fit through and some very slippery tracks and rutted tracks with BIG ditches either side! Have to admit the standard Conti's performed faultlessly. High light was driving across a golf course Fairway!

Hi Matt, The diff guards and steering guard were prototypes and are very solid and thought out.

I've recently commented to Kris at Far Corners that he needs to get the website updated but they are just very busy. If you're interested email Sam for a quicker response... sam@farcorners.co.uk

Thumbs Up James

Christmas came early today.... and all fitted by myself in under 2 hours (most of that was finding the right tools!).

New (to me) Startech steering wheel and quick release boss - thanks to MCMA1. In perfect condition, just a lovely wheel and another layer of security. Totally silly, but feel quite proud to be the beneficiary of the wheel taken off the legendary LS3 conversion!

Next my 4 dash parts bought second hand dash bits from Barney12, thank you. Clad in leather with lunar grey stitching to match the new wheel done by OEM Developments. Just lovely, the quality and workmanship is outstanding, big thank you to Phil, great job! Does however mean I'm going to 'have' to get the cubby lid redone to match, but that can wait.

Finally swapped all the interior bulbs to LED. Just bought replacement bulbs off Ebay following a recommendation off here. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231969686365?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT Bulbs are slightly shorter than standard (1-2mm) but bending terminals allows them to fit OK. A little looser than I'd like but I'll see how I get on.
