Nice solution. I just need to get a day off work and drag mine down to my mates garage. He stops opening up on Saturdays during the summer to go down to his caravan.

Paint wise, a sankey tub is never going to look a million dollars, as nothing is truly flat/straight. I suspect gloss black will probably exaggerate the issue. That said though, because they are an ex-military trailer you'll get away with Stevie Wonder painting it. 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

No design as yet. Not 100% I understand, as removing the carry rings I thought simply allows for alloys to be fitted?

My savings on me painting it and sanding it etc may go towards 2 sawtooth alloys and spacers to match my car Smile

I have two continental tyres to match the car ready Smile

Yep - I thought the same. I am waiting for my Sankey to come back and then I will test fit the SVX alloys. Will let you know.

If the SVX alloys fit then the saw tooths will also. If not then I will design and have some custom spacers made that will have the bearing caps built in. My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.

So this evening after borowing my dads angle grinder, I tried to remove the carrying rings from one of the hubs.. I've read with most alloys these will not fit with these fitted,

Much harder than I though, but it came off. However leaving it like this will allow grit and road crud to get in when I refit. What could I use to cover this?

Does it need a metal plate welded over it or anything else?

Only done one, so will wait before I do the other to see this can be sorted.

Yes, you will need need a cap. I am making two for my mk3. If you could do me a favour and measure the PCD of the cap bolts (waiting for my trailer to come back) and let me know and I will whip up the drawings and will send to you. My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.

Thanks, but I believe you are showing the PCD of the main wheel nuts. To make the cap I need the PCD of the centre cap bolts (the 6 bolts). If you measure one bolt centre to opposite bolt centre, we can work out the PCD. My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.

This is exactly what I need bit for the hub bolts yes. If you could also measure the stud diameter and also the hole diameter in the middle I can design the cap from these dimensions. Thanks Stacey007. My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.

Bearing Cap
I put this together tonight. However, I have a concern about the protrusion of the cap flange allowing the wheel to press again the bearing cap and not the face of the hub. You can get around this by building the cap into a spacer (essentially a wheel spacer with solid centre. I will not be able to confirm until I get my trailer back and I can measure the hub. The wheel must mate with the wheel hub therefore forcing the fact that an adapter may be required if the bearing cap flange protrudes over the face of the wheel hub.

If you need the drawing in a higher resolution, PM me and I will send you the PDF). However, I would wait until I have got the measurements of the hub so I can confirm that wheel will sit correctly. Better get this right first time Thumbs Up My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender.
