Cheers FH, that sounds very likely, I've emailed Christian & Adrian @ bbs were helping me with the pin-8 error, we originally thought the unit was at fault and we were discussing sending the unit back but seeing as I found fault with the car I'm glad I didn't send it, I've asked the question about the sill switches so now awaiting their reply, but your theory sounds very plausible.

Pardon my ignorance but where are these sill switches, is it the ones that turn off/on the courtesy lights.
I have had my alarms system act up over the last few days and am trying to fix it. I don't have a nanocom just working through with visual inspections and multimeter. If I lock the car with the plip, the locks engage, almost immediately disengage and the alarm goes off. Going to try it with the key, and see what happens, at least it will be quieter. The sill switch is attached to the drivers side door lock, the others are the interior light switches on all other doors, plus the bonnet switch. Check the switch wiring for chafing and shorting against the bodywork. Sounding twice then unlocking means the alarm thinks one of the doors is still open.
Does your interior light work correctly, if so then check the bonnet switch. Also check the alarm connectors for corrosion, if your vehicle has had a water leak around the windscreen the alarm is in a vulnerable place - its not unknown for water to affect the alarm unit itself. |

Hi Tommy
The door switches are located halfway up the pillar at the front of the door (same side as the hinges) they're held in place by a single screw. Nick Mc has just done this job, here's his thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic36144.html Cheers John 2014 110 2.2TDCi XS Station wagon 1971 Bowler Tomcat 88 4.2 V8 Auto 2022 110 D250 XS Edition - Gone 2024 110 D250 X-Dynamic HSE |
