Series III - help with value please
I've been offered an 88" SIII 2.25 petrol rag top in marine blue with 10,000 miles on the clock, 3 owners, all very original and full history to support the mileage.

What do we think it's worth ?

Laughing

As much as the buyer is prepared to pay. If your need is such that you need to ask on here the asking price is probably too much.

How much do they want? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Seems fair enough on the face of it. If the condition's ok and you're prepared to cough up you go for it. If not send me the details and I might.

If it's as straight and tidy as it looks bite their arm off. With a little spend you could make a very tidy profit. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I know it's an S3 but if you haven't already I'd spend some time on the S2 club forum first and get to know what goes for what. I've seen apparently good cars sit there and not sell. There's a huge amount more to them than looking good in a picture.

Not trying to teach you how to suck eggs and all that....

Thank you for your advice, much appreciated.

I think the price is about right for a Series III of this era, what I believe makes this one stand out is its incredibly low mileage and fantastic originality.

I've taken the plunge and bought it subject to a look (although it is 4 hours drive away Rolling Eyes ) - I'll report back once seen Thumbs Up

Also, chassis and bulkhead, make sure they're ok as they both can cost lots of time and money (depending on your welding ability) to sort particularly the bulkhead

Get it bought! Thumbs Up

The footwells look ok in that picture and if the rest of the bulkhead is good and the chassis doesn't need any significant repairs, then you'll not go wrong.

In my (very recent and limited) experience of ploughing through dozens of adverts, £3,500 buys a tidy S3 but that one is worth a fair bit more if the mileage is genuine.

If you were interested in a S2, then this one: http://www.series2club.co.uk/forum/forum/i...507.0.html is one of the nicest ones I've looked at, although not fantastically original and I would have bought it if I'd had the budget. It doesn't take long to get below the asking price of your one when you deduct the new canvas, Clayton heater, XZLs and the galv chassis. Tax exemption too.

Happy to take the blame and apologies for not answering your direct question about what I'd paid for mine.
