Perfect, a proper land rover, please tell me you're going to keep it as original as possible as that looks like a classic original example.

Absolutely !

It's main appeal to me is it's originality, the chap even has the original wheels

Please buy it, sort the bonnet spare out even if it is the lowest priority, make sure you can see it from the kitchen window and promise it you will never leave it. Exactly same colour and spec as my previous Series and I have never forgiven myself for letting it go

What year is it? Looks very nice and original (certainly needs the original wheels on). Pete

For anyone else wanting to scratch the itch, this ad on the series 2 club also caught my eye: http://www.series2club.co.uk/forum/forum/i...150.0.html

Some nice looking vehicles lurking in the background too.

1977

Three owners from new, the second bought it in 1994 and the current owner in 2006.

When it changed hands in 2006 it had 10,000 miles on the clock.

Since then it has been to the MOT station and back every year and that's it (a 4 mile round trip), not even taxed since 2002, so clocked up an additional 33 miles Mr. Green

Each time it went for it's MOT whatever it failed on it stayed there until it was done, clutch master cylinder, carb, wheel cylinders etc. all the sort of things that perish when not used.

Good find! I'd be awake at night until it was safely tucked away in my garage if I were you. Smile

[edit] ...and I didn't mean that in a sinister way! My work prevented me from picking mine up for over a week after the seller accepted my offer and I was having nightmares that it wouldn't be there when I turned up with a trailer and envelope of twentys.

What a lovely motor, with it being so original I would be afraid to turn a nut on it. Nice find. 2011 110 USW

Apologies for resurrecting this and also if I've missed a new topic but did you get the S3 and how is it?

No problem Thumbs Up

Yes, got it.

It's in very good condition, very original.

The rear cross member has been patched and there are very small holes top of the front footwells but that aside it looks like it's genuinely only done 10,000 miles.

It had recently been put through an mot prior to me buying it and I would guess that this was done to help the sale so anything it needed was done on 'the cheap', Britpart bits were used and a split centre exhaust pipe had a whole tub of exhaust paste used on it.

I've been slowly replacing those bits with genuine parts.

It has never had any paintwork done but it's never been polished either so I'm undecided wether to leave the patina or have it machine polished.

The original wheels were included but in a dire state so I've sourced both 130 and wolf rims and a set of new 750 XZL's and again undecided wether to use those or go for original 6.00 on SWB rims.

Please, please, please don't alter the paintwork by polishing it. It'll never look in keeping and there's no way to add forty years back. Bow down I started with nothing and still have most of it left!
