 One of the top brass' FFRR was parked there last time we were there..

CLASSIC SHOT,...You are a lucky man. I'd love to have Gracie in a similar image. Thinking about it, I reckon that there would be a dollar to be made by having the favourite image of your Defender superimposed on that Background?! Pickles. I went late November with one of the belgian clubs and enjoyed it very much. The idea of visiting the actual birth place of our 110 was quite a unique experience and I almost got emotional about it. To see how it must have been there in the same raw state of unpainted aluminium, was as seeing its DNA. When I drove it the day after, it was even more of an experience than usual. I would have loved to take it to the Solihull an portray it in front of the factory!
It probably has been covered somewhere here already, but it would be a pity to miss them now they're still there: lots of high resolution images of the factory and production line itself are freely available on the Jaguar Land Rover Press pages.(the link already includes search terms 'manufacturing' and 'facilities') Unfortunately there are no images available of Defender Td5 production, so who knows when the current images will be removed. You can also find 2 films of the actual manufacturing line here . I found them under 'B-roll'. Below are some of my photo's of that day. Many of them quite similar to the other ones, but the testimonial card that was attached under 1948 was one of the unexpected highlights of the day, and hasn't been shown here to my knowledge. My attention was drawn by handwriting which was clearly from an elder person. I admit that I don't know the Land Rover history by heart, so it was only when I recognised the name a couple of yards further and realised who it was that I got goose bumps:  Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge The rest of the images are quite similar... The Last day for the Defender tour is Wednesday this week ,I have a group of us doing Wednesday afternoon stop ...soo looking forward to it ..look out for a G4 110 heading up the M40 in the morning
