unfortunately none of the slim actives can compete with decent speakers, but paired with standard LR speakers will benefit the sound tremendously. Depends on your genre of music, loudness and how you have it set up. I have fitted a few and had the Alpine 1000SWE (earlier model). Branded models are all pretty similar, but the cone size alters...... personally I would go for an 8" speaker as should offer a better range.

There is no external Amp as an active sub means it's combined in one unit.
Only a passive set up is a Sub and Amp in separate units.
Can't comment on the remote, do you mean remote turn on wire or the idipendant bass contol? (If they have one)

I fitted my Alpine SWE-1200 as an aftermarket, along with Focal speakers. Mine definitely came with an amp (now located under the cubby, which I wanted to raise anyway to provide a better armrest) and the remote is velcroed to the front or said cubby. Defender Puma 2.2 XS 90

Many thanks. Did you have to raise the cubby or would it have fit without being raise?

The unit from Land Rover is different to the off-the-shelf model as the amp is combined in the casing with the sub making the unit slightly "thicker". The decal is also rotated Whistle Tom

@ 2GOS - I don't think the standard one would have been high enough as standard and was raised in the usual high quality way by LR using wooden battens. I bought the ExmoorTrim cubby that matched the rest of my XS interior and made 4 x 75mm spacers to get both the height I (and the wife!) wanted and enough breathing space for the amp. One of the other posts rightly pointed out that the Alpine logo is upside down - bit annoying.... Big Cry

Incidentally - apologies to the other posters as I didn't realise the standard LR version had an integrated amp. All the aftermarket ones do. Defender Puma 2.2 XS 90
