I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong, but the rear diff in the 110 is a P38 type (Heavy duty) where the 90 has a standard Rover 24 spline type diff.

the P38 diff replaced the Sailsbury diff on the older 110s. They only fitted the rover diffs to the 90s as they didn't eat them like the 110s did.

Because the 90 use a Rover pattern diff and the 110 uses a P38 diff.

The P38 was used originally since it was the only Rover-made 4-pinion diff available at the time. Now of course there is a 4-pinion Rover diff (as used in the front axle) but the P38 is still used in the rear.

Always interesting stuff on this forum Thumbs Up Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Reckon I'll just send my 110 locking diff back to Crown Differentials and get it rebuilt into a 90 Diff, he enjoys it, already swapped it from a 90 to a 110 he can now swap it back again. Laughing Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Not really any bigger, but the housing on the P38 is shorter and has a different bolt configuration.

Here is a picture of the 2:

If you speak to Ashcroft- I do believe the rover diff can be made to fit the 110 housing with the addition of a spacer plate but not the other way around.

I am guessing you have some sort of locker? If so more than likely there will be a spacer ring http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/in...ductId=128
