Quite recently I have seen a few defenders with hella fog lights in the bumper, a google search came up with 'hella de' fog lights but where are the surrounds from? Is there a company who sells them pre installed in a bumper or is it a case of getting them machined? 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon

Hella fogs built into the bumper? Are you sure they were not DRLs? I think that the correct fogs to suit a Defender are the Hella Comet 550. They are the right style, exist for ages already, and suit the Defender like a glove. You can see them installed in my picture gallery, the light spread is excellent too. You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

we do not use a finishing ring but do mount the light behind the bumper to offer some protection.
We can offer with as many lights as you wish, even have a few models with front parking sensors... ![]() Click image to enlarge |

I'll stick to my original plan of getting one of yours with driving lights, which reminds me I must ring Ian.

![]() Click image to enlarge Devon bumpers are 5mm thick - so difficult to ding LEDs from Ridid Industries almost indestrustable - especially when inside a devon bumper |

I have to ask what the reasoning for these are? I do think that look great.... but that is all.
-They are too high to be fog lights- UK law states the highest that lights for use in restricted visibility (fog) is 400mm which is lower than a standard Land Rover bumper....... plus anything over that is pointless as it won't cut under the fog. -They are too low to be effective spot lights as they will have a horizontal beam which will cast loads of shadows and therefore many hidden holes/ obstacles will be missed. Sorry Glyn, I think you are wrong on the height requirements.
Dimensions are given here No minimum height requirement, maximum height 1200 mm. Maximum distance from side of vehicle is 400mm. Brendan |
