Very sad, though inevitable.

I had a 2004 9-3 Aero and loved it. Yes I know it was one of the much derided GM era ones and therefore not considered a proper Saab, but it looked great, went like stink and cossetted me nicely as I put put 60k on it in 2 years.

Was light years behind the C class that replaced it, but it was kind of nice to have the choice available. Now that Alfa have stopped making the 159, it's pretty much choose which Panzer you prefer these days in the compact exec market. Fully Restored 89 110 CSW V8

CLS 350 CDI for the sensible stuff

I have a 2003 9-5 and love it!

done 13k in the last 6 months and is very comfortable, I am struggling to get parts though, hopefully some one will by the patterns to that the parts can still be made.

A great brand ruined by GM, SAABs were me 2nd passion next to Land Rovers, most of my cars were SAABs and LRs.

I started 2 weeks before I passed my driving test when my father bought one of the last 99GL's as his company car in 1985. I was stunned when I passed my test al he threw me the keys and tolm to go out on my own and "Learn to drive"! When he retired they gave hime the car and ultimatly it became mine too

My car history went Cortina, SIIa 109, SAAB 99, '73 Range Rover, company Astra, my old mans 99, SAAB 900 T16s (still the best handling car I have owned), GM900 auto, 9-3 Convertable, 300tdi Disco, Corsa Big Cry , 1952 90" and of course not the Td5 110.

I agree with zag the classic 900 was the best, especially as the T16s, a blistering sportscar with the load capacity of a Volvo 240 estate.

I didnt rate the later GM crud much as they were boring and bland looking and full of faults, I had a pet mechanic at Viking SAAB that looked after my cars in his spare time.

As for dads 99 well the Diff collapsed at 180K and required a replacement box, but the car was only on its 3rd clutch since new! when I went back to the place I traded the 99 in I was told that it was now their courtesy car and the customers loved it !

Wish we had seen the 9-2's over here which were Subaru Imprezzas with a makeover, and the 9-7 which was a Chevvy blazer reskinned,

Thats a very narrow minded comment, especially from somone with a forum name like yours. My brother lived in Finland for 4 years and Aaland for another,

I certainly had a great time when I visited him over there and he loved the Scandinavians. Beware national stereotypes or you could be hoist by your own petard Laughing

I had a 95 2.2 diesel and loved it. It was comfy and torquey, though my mates at the time said it was an old mans car. Traded it in for a Censored shogun in 07 and regretted it since. Needed the bigger motor for towing. Rolling Eyes

Personally Mean and Nasties went down hill after they took over ERF. For me it has always been Scania and Volvo for tramping as you can't beat the driving position or space (Topliner Scania or FH volvo Globetrotter). There are so many tractor units to choose from yet there are loads of Scania and Volvo trucks on the road, maybe their owners know something you don't? Whistle
