I had the same rattle, as in Glyn's case the rear bolt had vanished, this was replaced and then the front of the support bracket broke, after that was replaced those rattles stopped.

Naks - check the propshaft bolts are tight, I found mine were loose at the transfer box end of the rear propshaft not long after a service.

Sorry to dissapoint you but these are for rear washer, wiper and heated rear window - they are there because the wiring loom on the DC is the same as the Station Wagon.

Yes, the section with the weights is just under the gaiter.
To remove the lever end, there are two clips at its base pull these out slightly and the lever should come off.
