I removed the handbrake drum - all was fine. Good opportunity to bench grease the rear propshaft anyway and I saw that the bolts holding the A frame upper link brackets to the chassis were a bit loose ...

At the time it seemed like a serious problem, I just don't think it would be from somthing caught in the brakes but I can have a careful look for any fresh scratching/scoring tomorrow.
