Must be age related, got mine just a few months before my 40th... wear it all the time since.
Keeping an emergency tenner in the pocket of the hat has saved my life a couple of times too. |

It won't be drawing anywhere near 1A. More like 0.1A or less average per hour I would guesstimate.
I suppose however it's an added security feature if it flattens the battery as at least the car is ... |
