They are interchangeable.
Early utility were purple/brown progressive springs.
Seem to recall sw were green/white I think.

That's great, thank you.
Front is same.
Rear on mine seems to be further back, td5 mid pipe, plus the hanger comes off the back of the silencer rim as opposed to the pipework behind the silencer ... |

Operation wise I doubt it makes any odds which way up they go.
Traditional shocks had a plastic protective sleeve to cover the piston end. They were fitted with the sleeve facing down (piston up) ... |

| yep, paint and pads lasting well! original pads still fitted, 15,051 miles since fitting of which 9123 of them on M57 auto, and we know autos tend to eat pads a little quicker. |

Td5 will bleed simply enough, ign on depression accelerator 10times within 10s to run purge cycle. Repeat until ypu can't hear air. It will run the pump for 90s iirc or so.
