Thanks for the suggestions. I will start with timing and work out from there.

The timing was checked after the engine was re-installed during the re-build, but wont hurt to double check.

An update - I had the 90 intercooler and pipework pressure and smoke tested - no leaks.

I have also plumbed in a boost gauge - turbo is boosting to around 0.8Bar, so that would appear to be ok.

Do you have a loom to allow the original TDI Hazard switch (at knee level beside steering wheel) to be converted to the TD5 style switch on the console?
