All done Gary, new genuine Landrover ( re-con) turbo / egr blanked the garage also found the diesel leak which turned out to be a split inlet manifold blowing up onto the LP drain off pipe.

Dropped the oil today / greased props / dropped the diff oil & will do the box & transfer box when I can get some oil.

Apart from that not a lot been going on!!

I'm glad you've finally found the cause of the fuel leak.

I’m getting the mechanic a bottle of scotch! I think the crack has opened up as it is spraying under the LP drain off hose more now.

Temporary fix with putty ( the guys have managed to find a used one for £100.00) a new one is £350.00 ish here.

Have you figured out how it is that there is fuel in the inlet manifold in the first place, since if it is being blown out of the manifold it must be in there to start with. Since the engine is direct injection there should never be fuel in the inlet manifold.

There may well be oil mist from the crankcase breather, and all manner of nasty stuff from the EGR, but there should not be fuel.

Your smack on, as it was a mist on the underside of the bonnet & appeared to be coming from the LP return I took it as diesel.

As you say I think it’s residue from the crank case breather. Booked in for Monday second hand manifold going on (£100 + labour)

Todays job gearbox & transfer box oil change. The 5L is empty for what comes out.

Back in Botswana! Everything done, new boxes fitted ( snazzy double hinge design on the back one) and finally got the compressor fitted & hard wired in the side box!

looking fabulous!!
What a great place for smelly trainers !! (the box would be worth it for that job alone with our running and cycling shoes!)

Ive just purchased the same pump for fitting some time in the summer - probably going into the loo box as there is a bit of dead space there and its close to the batteries etc ... air hose outlet access will be from the passenger side - not as professional as yours though !

Professional!! Camp site install Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Just be careful the compressor gets silly hot depending on how much you use it!
Another little tip, pull the feed off the switch that illuminates it constantly & leave the one that illuminates it when on. Saves killing the battery.

After the Optima yellow top only lasting 12 months we now have a lithium leisure battery & a NLDC-25 dc-dc charger & solar controller made by National Lunar including their LCD Display.

A lot of guys here in Namibia run these as they are super compact & don’t suffer from heat problems like the Victron dc-dc unit.

Had it professionally fitted which took a long time due to having to cut the D44 tray as the lithium battery was 2mm too big!
Also had a custom brace made to secure them down which accounts for the difference in height ( photo shows the old strap)

Labour all in was £250.00 inc fab work & took 8 hrs.

Yikes! Shocked
The optima didn't last long!
Ive gone with a cheap 110am hr battery which has been excellent over the last few years - my thoughts were that I could buy 4 for the price of one optima ..
Not gone down the lithium route yet but am going to be watching how you get on with interest !

The 100ah lithium gives 3+ times the power of the AGM yellow top & half the weight! The yellow top in SA was £350.00 & the lithium in Namibia was £450.00 no brainier really for us.
1st impressions are why didn’t we do this in the 1st place?
