Clean it and then apply Fluid Film all over, all over the car in fact, reapply regularly
In my experience you cannot stop the rot with paint, you have to look at a removing dirt and then stabilise. |

My 2011 Puma went in the same place.
Try repainting and then covering with a thin strip of helicopter tape along the seam. This will prevent rubbing on the seal, and as it is clear you can keep an eye on any future corrosion. Check that the drainage holes are clear too. |

It already got a bit flaky so more that just a repaint or treating is required I fear. I was tempted to abrade away as much rust as I could, apply rust converter, then seam seal for a smooth finish before repainting, but concerned ant remaining rot might fester under the seam sealer for bigger trouble down the line. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Once the rust is in the seam you’ll never stop it I’m afraid. You might be able to slow down the spread a bit but it will travel between the panels and there’s no way to get effective treatment in there.
