2014 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 HT Santorini Black

Blown Hole in air inlet manifold

Any one ever had this happen , fault code P0101 , replaced MAF sender , 3 days later whilest green laning , yellow engine light on, limp mode then smoke from under bonnet, jumped out opened bonnet to find more heavy smoke to find burning smell and hole melted in inlet manifold as big as my thumb near EGR in let pipe , fault code P0101 & P2263 , Thinking EGR stuck open with heavy heat build up.

How is the engine running??

A melted plastic inlet manifold can often be caused by a stuck, bent valve.

The EGR gasses should pass through a cooler.

2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 SW Indus Silver

I had a crack develop in mine in pretty much the same spot last year, thankfully didn't blow a hole in it. Noticed some oily black marks on underside of the bonnet.
A genuine replacement from Ford is much cheaper than the same Ford part from Land Rover.

Replaced inlet manifold with a good second hand one off ebay with new seals, sorted egr out , , after a local had two goes at a re map and stuck in over fuel on dpf, and then bloody fuel pipe breaks and poor parts supply sorted with a mix of old & new, ended up sending ecu to Bell Auto's , back in 3 days with stage 1 150 bhp , great service and running well. 2014 2.2 90 hard top , Warm M8000 , Scorpain winch bumper, Ashcroft rear atb
