And so the today I had to hand back the loan car. I will miss certain aspects of it (the auto box, but that’s my age, the heated seats, again probably my age Rolling with laughter ) but as I jumped into the driving seat of mine

Ha!
To be fair, by the time I've realised I've seen a new Defender, it's a dot in my rear view mirror. WARNING.

I swapped my 2005 Defender 110 for a new L663 90 Commercial

Six weeks and 1,200 miles and l don't want to change back. The dealer who bought my 110 still have it for sale and they've offered me a good deal to buy the new one and give me my old one back

l have to say l've spent sleepless nights thinking about it, but it took me four months to make a decision on buying the new one!! So l am going to stay with it.

My new one is a base specification with the steel wheels, and while it's nothing like my old 110, it's probably more so than a top spec version with all the bling on it.
Although l did specify the centre console, front fog lamps, tow bar and a few other useful bits and pieces.

The steel wheels look great. Most change them immediately for alloys but l
like them and they are staying.

Mine is the D250 3.0 and is in no way sluggish in fact it's very strong.

My main observation is that this vehicle will have a lifespan. l paid £55,000 (although there's a £14,000 tax deductible on that)

After maybe 15-20 years it will be almost worthless, maybe even at the end of its life, where a traditional Defender will go on for ever and will always have a value.

l'll give it until the Summer and then decide whether to keep it long term or get another "classic" Defender
My wife has a 2020 Jimny and that's much more like a classic Defender in fact if it was 25% larger it would be perfect.

My problem is, l don't like the "Puma" Classic Defender so l would be buying a vehicle that's at least 17 years old. l loved my old 110 but l drive it all day every day in my business and it required constant maintenance, only to be expected at 17 years/145,000miles, but l lost the incentive to do it.

Come over to the dark side Suli, it actually works out cheaper as you don’t end up buying every shiny accessory that you see on here!

Buy the old 110back, park it up for 12 months and sell it fir a tidy profit. Here in OZ these old Defenders are going for great money.

ln the U.K. prices are falling due to the increased ULEZ's in many cities and Defenders don't comply.

Good ones still sell, but l don't think prices will rise over the next year, l think they'll probably stop falling and stay around the same.

I actually already made a tidy profit on the Defender from when l bought it in 2014. l sold it last year when prices seemed high, as with many cars.

Such as our 2020 Suzuki Jimny which l was being offered £26,000 for. This has now dropped to £22,000

I hope it's been treating you well and keeping you on the road. It can be fun to try out a different ride, even if it's just temporary. By the way, since we're chatting about cars, have you ever considered getting a new ride? If you're ever in need of financing, I happen to know a really good Mortgage Broker in Chelmsford who can help you find the best deal. They've got a great track record in securing affordable loans for car purchases. Let me know if you'd like more info!

lt took me about six months of driving my new Defender Commercial before l began to appreciate the vehicle, and stopped looking at Defender TD5's and Puma's on Ebay.

Now, having owned it for 12 months and 9,000 miles l am only now starting to love it, and have given it a name.

A test drive is not enough really. When l test drove the new Defender l was happy to get back into my 2005 110 Defender.
Now, although l still love the old version (and will in time get another) l wouldn't swap my 2022 90 for one.

Now your spec (90, steel wheels, nice blue, maybe white roof) I would like to be seen in!

Most I see are way to imposing looking - big black alloys etc. I am currently in the market for another (not new) car. Range Rover they can look expensive and a bit intimidating. A Defender should always look and be a practical vehicle in my mind.

New defenders not available used in the French market at all and I cannot justify more than ~25k for what I end up using the car for. Personally would love a bit of P38 challenge, but the wife won't let me..
