The XS is a decent spec, for me I prefer a base model but this 23MY XS worked out cheaper than the 23.5MY SE with LRs current price hikes.

The fridge I’ve used one, wireless charging I rarely use, the opening pano roof I opened once, the ambient lighting I’ve never changed it’s colour, clear sight rear view mirror again I haven’t used.

My 90 was a 21MY S spec had all the basics but LR dropped the S spec in favour of more profitable models. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

My First Edition came pretty well specced up as standard and much of what is on it is now part of the XS spec. I didn’t order an XS 2nd time around I ordered an HSE because I really don’t like the body coloured trims that are on the XS. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

I’ve got used to the colour coding, but the XS has terrible colour options. Though silver definitely the best of a bad bunch. The alloys aren’t my bag either, hopefully steels will be on by the end of the week. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

l think my 90 Commercial looks great in Tasman Blue with the steel wheels and basic cloth interior

lf you like the steel wheels they are available for a song on Ebay because most buyers upgrade
as soon as they take delivery.

Belter that lightning. Same spec as mine pretty much except I went for the 18” alloys. Feel free to stick loads more pics up, I’ve got plenty of months left before mine is ready to collect!

You can get a full set of effectively brand new steel wheels with nuts and centre caps for around £600.

You could keep your alloys and use the steel wheels as winter wheels.

I wish I could have specced out the higher grade of headlights - beam pattern isn't great with the base LED lights but since I ordered my P300 in S spec it only came with the base headlights and the Premium LED were not available.

Other than wanting better tires than the Goodyear Wranglers (since switched to BFG AT KO2's) I ordered mine with the Windsor leather heated and cooled seats, Meridian stereo, towing package and all of the off road goodies. All in all I'm pretty satisfied with my choices.

On a dark divided highway in rural south Georgia where deer are a constant threat I thought the lights were fairly inadequate.

I’ve done thousands of miles at night around the Scottish highlands which have the same issue and found the standard lights absolutely fine.

Compared to my XC90, they are really poor. I'm going to look at some Lazer light options.

Does anyone do an upgrade for the standard lights yet?

Although the standard headlights are okay, the ones on our 2020 Suzuki Jimny are superb and so much better than the Defender ones.

The Suzuki is a budget 4x4 that costs under U.K.£20,000

I too bought secondhand (<500 miles), so I didn’t have a say. That said, I’m glad to have this option I probably would not have checked:

Probably the clearview mirror (which was easily available as an option 2 years ago) - having the spare block the view significantly through the in-car mirror and the lunchbox and expo ladder blocking the view out of either wing mirror the rear view out of mine is not that great...

Also (and this was a big price jump at the time) a D250 engine rather than the six-pot D200 - don't get me wrong the six pot D200 goes well enough and feels properly mated to the car size, it just tops out (by software design) when you press the loud pedal VERY hard - may be one for a map when its out of warranty Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
