1989 D90 Stock spring part numbers

Hey, friends need some help. I ordered what I thought was a stock height spring kit here https://lucky8llc.com/collections/defender...46-nrc9447

Update:

My mechanic calls me up and says he has 3 fronts and one rear spring. I think he and I were confused as we both were expecting the rears to be the same #, and I do not think they did the obvious... set them on the floor and literally look at the heights. So when they got the 9449 installed and looked at the labels... they concluded we had 3 fronts... After digging sounds like we have the right parts... 9449 and or 9448 can be rears.

Here is what I have:
- 1x NRC-9449 This is "Passenger side HD front or standard rear"
- 1x NRC-9448 I think this is "Driver-side HD front or standard rear.
- 1x NRC-9447 Front Passenger
- 1x NRC-9446 Front Driver Side

Ok did some searching I guess 9448 can be used as an HD front or a standard rear

Talked to Rovers North here is the official spring numbers and locations:

NRC-9447 Passenger Side Front
NRC-9446 Driver Side Front
NRC-9448 Driver Side Rear
NRC-9449 Passenger Side Rear 1989 Defender 90
2022 Defender 110 SE

Making a small calculation on how much load there is on the standard front springs (rate of 175lb/in) to get to a compressed height of 10.2" ( https://gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/wp-content/uplo...rments.pdf ) and then working out the new compressed height if you were to fit the 9448 on the front, it turns out that the front would be sitting almost 2" higher at 12".

Rear springs are fitted to the front when there are heavy winches and bumpers installed while getting a bit more ground clearance. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

So that means on a LHD vehicle, the springs are swapped over compared to a RHD.
I always hear that the difference in heights left to right is to compensate for fuel tank on 300tdi and earlier. Could be a myth though. It is also interesting however that on Td5 and later 90s, with fuel tank on the rear, the springs are still handed. Go figure! 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Yes, and good observations. Here in the states we generally have front… back, which explains my confusion. My tech got it all installed. Stock height looking great.

I replaced all 4 springs last year - ordered by part number but there was no difference across each axle, both colour coded the same. When I queried it I was told they now just supply front or rear springs and they are not handed. Rgds.

This has been the case for quite a few years, but I couldn't say from when, exactly. I'd suspect at least for the duration of Puma production. Darren

90s always had sided rear springs. Edit - and front springs.

For Puma RHD 110s, they were same for left/right, but LHD still got sided front springs. Rears were indeed the same for both sides irrespective if it was LHD or RHD.

130s were same spring left/right.

But glad that the OP is sorted
