Sorry tale simply went to change cab interior light bulb as I put it in pop heard fuse going radio stopped working
Thought no problem changed fuse interior light now w orking but only when ignition off ? Also expensive touch stereo Dead it has 15 amp fuse on back and it's fine put old simple stereo back on worked ok any ideas how circuit could blow stereo without blowing fuse on stereo and why interior light only working with ignition off cheers Endeavour To Persevere |

The back plate in the interior light is grounded, and close to the live pin of the light fitting.
It’s easy to short the two with the end of screwdriver or LED / light bulb fitting being fitted. Especially, if you didn’t turn the switch off first. Yep what Steve says. You’ll have to replace the 15amp fuse in the Auxilliary fuse box under the steering wheel. It’s same circuit as the clock. F29 maybe? Obviously I know this having done the same as you…

Only on a defender can changing a £1. 00 bulcause issues bit confused over fuse board under steering wheel no info on over panel
Also diagram and Haynes manual shows obd on left of panel but it is on right do the fuses still relate also comedy fuses some just fall out Have put old stereo in and working interior light only works with ignition off in both key positions? Endeavour To Persevere |

The interior lights are controlled by the alarm module, so you've almost certainly blown one or more of the fuses that relate to it. It's not at all obvious, I'm afraid, so can only recommend going through and checking all of the fuses under the steering wheel.
I once caused a short circuit whilst changing an indicator and had to replace fuse sperate fuses to get everything back working again! The fuse details are on the back of the access door usually when looking at the fuses, F29 does ring a bell to me as well.
If you have a Multimeter. You can pull each fuse out one by one and then replace one by one, and do a visual check or continuity check each fuse in situ. If you’ve got a beep on each fuse by placing the probes in the little holes on the fuse each side of the fuse rating then the fuse is in-tact. If no beep then it’ll be the blown fuse. Of course sticker on fuse panel is long gone it's a 110 commercial hardtop with 250k so a bit abused and bodged
Big time in the past so current state of play with interior light is works only with ignition of does not work when doors open Have changed both door switches to no avail still at a loss how stereo got killed probably just leave it keen to fix Big leaks at back interior gutters oh the joy of landy ownership Endeavour To Persevere |
