2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Tonga Green

Penrite Oil

Hi I realise there has been oil discussions before but I just needed to check if this oil is Ok for the Puma Engine
I had used it in the TD5
Penrite HPR Diesel 5
Sae 5-40
API Ch_4/SL
ACEA A3/B4/d4
DLD-3/DLD-2

Not good!!!

You must use an 5W30 ACEA A1/B1 or, better A5/B5 like Castrol A1 Professional 5W30.

A1/B1 and A5/B5 is low HTHS (hths from 2,9 to 3,5) and engine designed for this oil are the main bearing tickness dery low.

if you use ACEA A3/B3/d4 (HTHS > 3,5) on the long distances you could have bearings wear problems.

NO! OK for a 300Tdi but not for the Puma.

Australian spec from dealers is Castrol Magnatec Pro 5W-30 which equates to Castrol Edge in the consumer market of which the 0W-40 is the Castrol recommended spec equivalent, the Edge 5W-30 also meets the spec's.

2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Chawton White

Application
Designed for use in latest generation petrol engines
such as multi-cam, multi-valve, turbocharged and
supercharged engines including the new high output
European and Japanese engines. Also
recommended for engines with variable valve
timing. Specific applications include MG-F, MG-TF,
MG-ZT, post 1998 vehicles manufactured by Volvo,
Subaru and SAAB, high performance Japanese cars
and other vehicles that specify the use of SAE 5W-
30, 10W-30 or 5W-40 oils in the owner’s handbook.
HPR 5 can be used where the ILSAC GF-3/GF-4,
ACEA A1/B1 and A5/B5 fuel economy specifications
are specified.
While HPR 5 is suitable for use in many diesel
powered vehicles, HPR Diesel 5 is our primary
recommendation in this viscosity range.
