transfer box revision
Regarding the transfer box - i think i'll need to check the seals to ensure that they are not leaking as everything there is kind of wet. in regards of the flanges I know there is this rubber seal that needs to be fittet properly and in a specific distance to ensure that the flange sits perfectly. I saw once online a mechanic using a round specific tool that looks like an oilfilter (but obviously isn't). Tried to look for it online but chance. Does anybody has a recommendation for a (replacement) tool for doing this job? Ebay and google didn't help somehow ...

thanks

The tool you want is 307-479 (previously numbered LRT-41-012) available from Bosch for £81.92 + postage + VAT if you have an account with them, or from Dingocroft for £145 + postage +VAT if you don't have an account with Bosch (which is actually a rather shocking mark-up by Dingocroft).

Alternatively you might feel that getting on for £200 is a bit much for a very simple tool, in which case you might want to check out this one on eBay, at a more realistic £15.35 including postage.

I have both types, and although the genuine tool is better it is certainly not £150 better, and the eBay tool does the job nicely.

thanks a lot for the recommendations - I'll bully my local dealership if I can ask them to order one unit for me from Bosch . but given I'm in Switzerland, it might be cheaper to go with the dingocroft directly anyhow ... what just cringes my mind is that I'll be using this once and then it'll be taking space for the next 100k km in the toolbox Td5 110 Station

That's the same seller as the eBay link in my post above. For £12 his tool, which is a very close match to the genuine one and does just as good a job, is unbeatable value.

You can buy a second-hand LT230 for the price of the genuine tool!

Sorry missed the ebay link in your reply! I did send the guy my drawings for the LT230 input seal driver and the R380 input and output seal drivers so he might start producing those at some point too. I just 3D printed a set to use for my own rebuild.
