isn't it a bit late for running the engine in ?
if not then lucky you 
reference the SAP I wonder how long you run in and therefore how much soot you're likely to generate. the other thing to mention is I've run a 1.6 Polo on regular oil with no DPF issues although I was advised I probably would. sorry not really the answer you were looking for. good luck. |

Of all the modern cars I have had from new, including Discoverys and Defenders none have recommended running in oil.
I would be concerned that out of spec running in oil could do much more damage to the modern engine. The usual recommendation is to use normal oil and proceed gently and unstressed for the first 1000 miles with no oil change until the service interval. If you wanted to be ultra cautious then an oil and filter change at 1000 miles would not come amiss. |

Modern engines are normally bench run-in before fitting. They don’t require thinner mineral oil etc. 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

If the engine is supplied with oil it may be running in oil where they have bench tested it, but I would still drain and replenish it with fresh and do a filter cartridge change for piece of mind. Ride like you stole it!!

I bought a new/rebuilt Td5 engine from Turner Engineering last year,& they supplied running in oil for it.I ran it for the first 1000km with it in,then changed to my usual synthetic oil.

Did they make any comments around using mineral oils and non low SAPS oils with a DPF.

No,just run for the first 1000 miles with the running in oil.

None of that is relevant with a TD5 but it may be worth a call to Turners as I believe that they now offer rebuilt Puma engines, too. I have just spoken with Turners and Westway Lubricants. Both have advised that due to the time the oil is in the engine, there is no risk to the DPF. - Assuming you stick with the recommended run time and oil change. Apx 4hrs/500miles.
