Measurements for exchange.rear crossmember
Are there any specific measurements given when changing the rear crossmember?
Or is it just to center it and keep the old holes ss the old one🙄 Land Rover owner since 2003

Replaced once a basic crossmember, i.e. no extensions and before I cut off the old one, took measurements from the rear tub supports as I removed the tub to ease welding.

I took 3 main measurements:
1. How far aft it should be
2. How high it should be
3. How perpendicular it should be

Centering was the easy part, as the new crossmember had the openings for the chassis rails to fit.

Have you already cut off the old crossmember? 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Ok thanks😁. I think i have to google some words😅. Perpendicular was new to me. Is aft a word or should it be after?
No, i have only cut it partly to see how bad it was. I have probably could have done a quickweld fix to mot it but i have own it for 18 years now and no plan to sell 😁. Land Rover owner since 2003

Perpendicular is a 90 degrees between two lines, or in this case the tub support bracket and the rear face of the crossmember. If I remember correctly it was a perfect 90 degrees, checked by a large square. It was on a 90 though. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

So... i have forgotten the measures i made for the rear crossmember. Can anyone tell me or measure the distance from the tub support end to end of crossmember?
It seems like 2.5 inch would be likely to be right. But im asking anyway. Land Rover owner since 2003
