Ever wondered what a 250k mile front diff looks like?
Front diff replaced with a new diff with a slight upgrade thanks to Winchester gears.
This is the diff that came out of my 1999/248k TD5 110

The only real play I found was in picture 3 as shown by the arrow and in picture 5, the input gear to crown wheel had play.

No chunks missing on the teeth and the teeth looked OK to me (untrained eye and all that) 1999 Defender TD5 110

Pretty darn good for 250k

Of course your comprehensive maintenance regime and attention to detail will have contributed 👍

Precisely what I thought about Miffs rear diff the other weekend.

So am I right that you are now ATB front and back?

A few pound coins needed. I think for ease and doing it myself (given the fun Mike at Britannia restorations had) it would be an axle swap. 1999 Defender TD5 110

No dog to sell.

Rear diff is a while off. But it would complete the collection 1999 Defender TD5 110

It's much easier to swap the diff than the axle, one hour max job.

Why would the diff look any different. It's only 250k. Unless neglected these type of components are not particular wear items.

Except on a Puma, when the front diff will disintegrate long before 250k.
