HELP - iKamper X-Cover 2.0 onto Hannibal Rack
So in panic mode currently, ordered new roof Tent Friday and planned first trip for this weekend coming.
Realised today that the bars on my Hannibal rack run the length of the car and not the width, having spoken to iKamper (who are brilliant) have been advised this will be an issue.

Tried to get Front Runner Slimline rack but delivery would be next week as coming from Germany.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to mount, I will be replacing rack.

My olnly hope is that it will attach to the cross rails but that is if they line up.

Clamp/ bolt 2 aluminium box sections perpendicular to your rails, then fit onto that? That’s what I’ve done on my old tent, means it’s a lot easier to get to the fittings too, otherwise that looks impossible!

Add box to the cross members on yours so they are level with the surface and clamp those. The feet on the tent are adjustable. I also wouldn’t swap your rack. It’s one of the best out there and would be a step backward.

Thanks Andy when you say box what do you mean - I have been out tonight and bought these from Halfords with plan to mount across the rack but I like the idea of filling in so level with current rails.

Do you have any pictures? Thanks

I see it as your length bars go where red box is. RTT clamps where blue box is, as they are now facing sideways.

So I’m thinking the red part in your pic clamps to the red circled area on my rack below and then as you say the RTT clamp goes onto the blue area in your picture.

Do you think that will give it enough to clamp onto?

If it is as you say then they are length ways, which I thought was an issue? The roof tents weigh very little and you are just holding it in place. In the end I had four bolts through the base of my tent, through the rack with a washer and nut. Lovely and simple, also couldn’t steal the tent unless you raised it first. Once you get the tent it will be easy to engineer a solution. The mounts on the tents move so it gives you options such as packing the bits you have just marked in your above pic, or making top hat sections that go between the longitudinal rungs

How did it turn out in the end? I have a Skycamp Mini 2.0 on two Frontrunner bars on my 90, very happy with it.

Wouldn't you be better off with just roof bars? You can't actually use most of the rack once the tent is fitted anyway?
