Still not managed to find a new loom. I can't even find lamp holders so I can make my own!
I am going to have to bodge a repair for now but I would be grateful to anyone for ideas on how to replace. Thanks |

If making your own, why not go with LEDs?

Some years ago I tried LED bulbs for this application but found that they were much too directional and I ended up with bright spots on the panel. It may well be that more diffuse LEDs or LED bulbs are now available.
As far as I know this harness is not available as a separate part and can only be bought as part of the control panel assembly JFC500840. The assembly isn't cheap, seems to be around £120 for an aftermarket part through to around £200 for genuine (I must say that I thought the genuine part would be a lot more than this). It's an expensive way to but a harness. |

A quick scour of the diagrams on LRWorkshop suggests that this is part of the bulkhead loom, which only has one part no. for the whole lot and costs £2-3k depending on model variant.

Well I would use LEDs but the real issue here is retention in their location. I guess I could fabricate springs but I was hoping, just for once, it would be an easy fix! |

Ok, well thanks for everyone's input, at least we seem to have a consensus...it is not available on its own.
Not going to part with a lot of money to get this and other stuff I simply don't need so I will find another solution. When it is done, I will post details in case it is of interest to others (or at least provide a good laugh!) Thanks |

I think the issue will be getting hold of suitable lamp holders...just about anyone should be able to knock-up such a simple loom.
There will be lamp holders out there....just got to find them! Thanks |

A company like above may have a pot full of them sat on a shelf. 2008 2.4 110 Utility XS.

It's definitely part of the heater control panel (I know because I bought one some years ago) as also evidenced by this photo of the back of a genuine part, shamelessly pinched from the internet. It is however interesting to note that although the harness is present in the photo the bulb holders are not located in their holes.  Click image to enlarge |

As Blackwolf has said, the illumination loom isn't available separately, it's part of the control panel assembly.
I've been looking for the bulb holders (on and off) for the past couple of years, and have dug-up the following information. The symbol moulded on the bulb holders - Click image to enlarge is the same (or a variation of) the symbol used by Comind Sud / (PCMA (Plastic Components and Modules Automotive) / Ergom Automotive of Naples, who are (were?) part of the Fiat empire.

Is the current name for the Magneti Marelli / Denso Corporation company that manufactures HVAC controls and components, primarily for the Chrysler / Fiat group. The downside is that I'm still looking for a source for these bulb holders and terminals

Blimey Paul you really have had a go! All very useful information both for my problem and possibly for others re the heater controls.
Like you, I am going to continue looking but given that most variants of these lampholders appear to be moulded to the contacts/cable at source, finding loose lampholders for repair/ad hoc use may be unlikely. I think I am leaning towards adapting readily available lampholders by adding a clip to them. I have carried out a repair to my existing unit that I expect to last for a while but I will post any more permanent solution I find...if I do! Thanks for the help and please let me know if you find a source or solution |
