Headlights flickering
I have changed the indicator stalk unit on my 110 300tdi as the old one was loose and now dipped beams don't work unless I hold the indicator back very slightly all the time I want them on. Main beam works fine either way just dipped doesn't work unless I do the above.

Anyone have any ideas?

It wasn't a Britpart switch, by any chance?

Sounds like you need to change it again for a good one! Big Cry

Sounds like an earth issue.

Do you know where all of your main earthing points are? If not, the learned folk on here will assist.

Do you have a wiring diagram?

Front bulkhead engine bay side upper area and transfer box are typical locations for grounding points.

You could add a temporary ground directly to the headlights to see what that does.
As well as checking voltage and continuity with a Multimeter if you’ve got one.

Also a difference in voltage or continuity reading one side to another can be a tell tale.
Some grounding eyes are on their own dedicated input on the same stud, so you can get good ground continuity with one but not the other but both share the same ground stud.

When you are driving the connection is loose and give on and off contact hence the flickering you mention.
Especially if it only does it when driving.

A multimeter should be your friend here.

Good luck. 👍🏻 Diesels Lives Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️

thanks Steve, i didn';t get a chance to check it last night but i think i will trace the earth wire form the battery tonight and clean up any contact points it goes to - once i have done that il check it with a short drive and if i still have the problem i think you idea of checking with a multi meter is a god one. Ill try that after and report what i find when i do it. thanks
