Rear roof gutter repair
I have recently viewed a Defender with a crushed rear gutter where it has hit something. It is split so won't bend back into shape.

Is the only way to repair to replace the whole roof panel? Or has anyone successfully had a repair section welded in?

Thanks!

Without seeing it, it is difficult to say but I would have thought it would a relatively straightforward repair for a competent body shop. I suspect it would require the removal of the roof, or at least the tub-roof panels though.

If it is a relatively common roof i.e. 90 or 110 hardtop or truck cab then a second-hand roof may be the cheaper and easier option. I have a double cab roof that needs some fettling above the drivers door after the vehicle suffered a similar fate. My plan with that is to anneal the aluminium, pull the gutter straight and do my best to tap the dent out. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Whilst I don't doubt someone proficient in aluminium TIG could repair that, I dare say the cost of material, time and paint would outweigh the cost of a good, second-hand roof and a respray if required. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread
