I think one point that is not taking in consideration here is the use off the vehicle.
Take a truck for example that drives from the UK or nothern europe to Italy twice a week or a car that only is used for school runs. After half a year without oil-changes the oil in the truck is probably in better condition. Roel

Yes, Roel. The School run is a car killer. That and shopping trolley cars that do 3 mile to Sainsbury's twice a week. Car doesn't even get time to warm up.

I also feel so sorry for post vans. Start stop all day every day (bar Sunday!) Depending on the round, some of them probably never find out whether 4th or 5th gear works Rolling with laughter Not sure I would buy a second hand one. A Guy near me bought an ex Royal Mail Vauxhall Combo. I am not aware that it caused him too many problems.

Oil quality is just one aspect - engine tolérances + material or filters etc. do also influence service intervals ...

My '09 PUMA Defender has 66K miles on the clock.

Dureing her liife as an everyday driver she's had oil + air filter service intervals of 12 months with 5W30 Castrol Magnatec and genuine LR parts.

Fuel filters have been changed every 24 months with LR Genuine parts as per the LR spec.

My question is, since 2019 and dureing the Corona Pandemic she's only done 3000 miles as a weekend car for trips into the hills. Her last oil change was in July 2020 at 63k.

Do I really need to service with just this mileage, despite the 2 year timespan approaching? Just fix it before your friends find out it broke again - Landy Life Forever!

^ yes, because the car was standing for so long, there will have been condensation accumulating, so the oil probably has a bit of water in there.

An oil change is cheaper than an engine Thumbs Up

My Puma now has close to 88,000km on the clock, it has had oil changes every 6-months and after long trips since new. --

What Naks says. I do mine every 6 months but I do about 10k a year. It’s a very cheap way to preserve the engine.

Okay, so better judgment prevailed.... Popped into the dealer for service parts and spent the afternoon servicing her myself.

Quick question... somewhere along the line picked up the habit of primeing the diesel filter before fitting. Is this neccessary with Puma diesel filters? Just fix it before your friends find out it broke again - Landy Life Forever!

Puma 2.4 - yes, Puma 2.2 not essential but does no harm.
