Interesting regarding the plinths. I guess I'll buy a few more as back up but a bit irritating if they don't fare too well. My 90 is Stornoway, thinking red brake/tail light and the bottom two clear.

You could buy several lifetimes supply of plastic ones for that! Darren

Machined aluminium and stainless screws - there's a recipe for disaster if ever there was one!

Do you have a link to those Econseals please? Dun-Bri sell a few but I am unsure which ones I need. |

Do you mean the plugs? If so, they came from eBay like this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R4...p;_sacat=0 They're obviously three way ones for stop/tail lamps but a similar search for '2 way econoseal male' will bring up ones suitable for all other lamps. Design and Development produce alloy slimline plinths which not only look much better than the clunky big plastic offerings but last forever too

What screws are people using to mount lights to the plinths? The torx head ones I have are slightly too long so it's pushing the plinth out a little from the tub. Also found the Perei lights don't fit very well in the dun-bri plinths compared to the genuine plinths in case anyone is doing the same upgrade.

From memory, I've used 3.5mm x 15mm stainless posi screws.
All of my Perei lights have fitted various aftermarket plinths without issue. On the front I have the Bolt on Bits reducer plinths and on the rear, the sort that come with a couple of bolts that need to be removed. I used the same full-depth Dun Bri plinths front and rear. The light fittings are a little tight in them and, with hindsight, the answer might be to lightly run round the inside of the plinth lip with the Dremel drum sanding tool. On the front, I profiled the plinths to scribe them in around the edge profile of the front light panels. I think that the photo shows this- I tried the 'stand off' plinths but thought they looked like an awful bodge.
I've used stainless screws (security torx) as they all go into plastic blocks. For those who've observed their plinths stand off the body work- I used the dremmel sander to 'relieve' the flat base of the plinth (and its skirt) where it encountered rivets and the plastic blocks that the fixing screws go into which were causing the stand-off issue. ![]() Click image to enlarge Cheers, Guy. |
