Rear Door lock - barrel too long?
Hi everyone. Sick of too many keys, I bought a new set of lock tumblers (including ignition) for my 2013 puma. Having tried to change the rear door lock it appears the new tumbler that takes the ignition key is too long for the locking mechanism, which was previously unlocked with a small key (like a petrol cap key).

Do I need to buy a new rear door locking mechanism? Or is there a way to adapt the long barrel to fit in where the short one was?

Do you have photos?

Something is odd or its not the original rear lock, my 2007 uses the ignition key for the rear door.

Thanks for the reply Keith. I think it’s not the original lock, as the lock is clearly too small for the hole on the outer of the door.

There should be a plastic finisher or escutcheon on the outer panel.

If you replace the rear lock, I've not long done mine, used a Britpart one and the quality isn't great....

The small key certainly doesn't look right for your age of car.

Good luck

Thanks for the help. For anyone else with the same query, the shorter barrels are from older models (pre 2002 I think?) and therefore the previous owner had stitched me up. A new rear lock is £30 from bearmach and it takes the longer barrels so that’s the solution! Part number LR031336.
