Sorry guys,
Still I miss the remembrance of the "old" ones (Alpine windows, square lines, etc). You can said me retrograde, but is just my feeling with this model. In my view, you cannot throw away years of the people's remembrances the human beign doesnt work in that way. Nothing to say about the capabilities (we still don't know about it) but taking just the thing that we seen, looks more near to a standard SUV than the "rough go anywere" old classic Series/Defender. For me, is more honest to said that JLR ends the Series/Defender line and replace it by this model instead to said that this will be in the same saga of the Series/Defender. Is just my thoughts. I thought these were "fan" mockups, not images from Landrover themselves? 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

But that's saying nobody can be negative until they driven it etc, but its okay to be positive without having seen it? I don't understand that. A better comment would be "we can't say anything either way until we have driven it/seen it in the flesh". Thing is it could well be too late by then, and I think its totally acceptable to pass comment on the proposed specs, the styling and so forth, which we can all see and form an opinion on. Nobody has said they think it will be slow or unstable for example, but the response to the styling has been overwhelmingly negative - please please please look at all the different fora out there, the facebook pages, and so on which prove that. Landrover have definitely got it wrong styling wise, beyond that I don't think anyone is objecting to modern engines etc. The other concerns have come from "proper utility" users who feel they may now have no choice but to look elsewhere than Landrover to supply transport solutions, and I include myself in that catagory. I would have thought by now Landrover would have at least announced that the replacement will definately be able to tow 3500KG for example, we all presume it will, but a lifetyle sports vehicle doesn't need that capability... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

In fairness, LR have said it will be able to do everything that the current Defender can do so, in the absense of evidence otherwise, it's reasonable to assume it will be able to tow 3.5 tonnes.
Without any other technical information, it seems to me that what we've essentially seen so far is a styling exercise that's still some years away from being a production vehicle. I got the impression it was a proper Landrover marketing video, but it's not on their website. So it's a bit odd. |

Or possibly the most amazing PR exercise ever. If they do bring out a corker then with all this publicity, expect to be waiting for a very loooong time and paying more than list for a new one. I'm tempted to speculate and get my money down ASAP just to make some cash on it when the waiting list hit 6 months + Nick 2.2 110 Tipper |

You like it from the design images(assume you have not driven it either) but other people are not allowed to have an opinion if they have reservations. Makes no sense or is just double standards. Ok you like it, good luck to you, I respect your opinion, please respect other peoples. |

Or its a cynical ploy to increase sales of the current model. ![]() 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Its not about respecting others opinion - its just the stupid comments that are coming out about things you cant glean from a photo - that was most likely seen from a negative perspective anyway - that hasnt taken in anything that has been launched and actually most of the real world stuff. When the pre-production cars are out thats the time to comment....but comments need to be taken in the round and not focusing on a market that the defender died in long ago. Comments around space, flexibility, capability, characteristics etc have all been answered - the new one will do everything the old one did (you can wash it out, it will have a better load space)...so move with the times! and at least be objective! Im sure the central clocks will be annoying - but then they are annoying on all modern cars and the series the idea came from!!! Mike |

Agree LRA - and I think this is partly where some of us are divided: For example, some (like myself) are assuming it will be more or less as commercially capable as current Defender... Others are assuming it will not... Until we know the hard facts, we are basing many of our prejudices on assumptions. (And some may have a little more inside info than others, I'm interested to see if they are more confident than the rest of us!) |
