Those Mikalor clamps seem to have a very narrow operating size range. I was going to buy some but I was worried I’d accidentally end up just outside the operating window and have to reorder.

That is very true. In a few cases I have ordered the size I thing I need and then to be sure the size above and the size below. Rolling Eyes Just means I now have a decent stock holding to go to and size from now. If you use man maths, you can even justify it. Prices of things like this seem to rise in price far faster than normal inflation and so buying today for tomorrow is an absolute bargain. Stored correctly they will become heirloom parts. Thumbs Up

we stopped using Mikkalor clamps years ago as whilst very good they tend to concentrate the pressure on a certain area rather than uni formally.......

That's odd, as a more uniform clamping pressure is supposed to be their main benefit?

the likes of the "Murray" constant tension clamp is far superior and will hold far more pressure than any other we have used, like most things its actually a very simple design at its base but highly effective in operation

I just priced some of them up ~ eyewateringly expensive (unless I happened on a bad site)

yes not cheap albeit we do have a very good source and find them not too dissimilar to the Mikkalors that were being purchased.......

pretty cost effective when it means you can actually maintain the power / boost level you have set for that application......

Tyre bead breaker
Having spent a good few hours trying to get the inside bead off the rim of a 31x15.5x15 tyre and failing miserably, I'm looking at specialised tools that do just this job, and hopefully do it well.

I'm quite liking the look of this ~ BeadBuster XB-550 HEAVY DUTY:

Anyone any experience of this or similar tools?
