rear door design is different between the rendering and the prototypes. looks like they just use the wagon rear door and an infill panel which is just the same as a 70series. Makes sense.

agree the rendering looks much better - they may have used the bodged up wagon rear door just for the prototype and a more refined solution will (hopefully!) be available on the production models.

It looks like there is a trim piece missing to cover where the wheel arch used to be. I thinks it’s likely at this stage that the SW door in the pics is what will go into production. It’s probably not economic to produce 2 different doors for such a low volume vehicle. I think it looks ok. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

It looks cool, and I like it, but that wheel placement has me concerned. I'm in for the wagon so it doesn't really matter anyway, but it's an observation I have.
The 70 series doesn't carry weight well because the tray has the majority of the load space behind the wheel, so the rear axle acts as a pivot. Unless Ineos stretch the chassis or relocate the rear axle, they are going to have the same problem with their Dual Cab -- too much tray space behind the axle. Granted, the suspension is a bit different on the Gren so it may compensate, but the best way to carry a load is the axle in the middle of the tray (as far as I'm aware). |

Where to put the spare in a double cab is always an issue.
I've actually got mine in a similar position as the standard factory position attached to the rear bulkhead robs too much load bed space. Can't see properly but is the bed completely flat width ways? No protrusions for the wheel arches? |

This would definitely give the 70 series a run for its money here in Australia.
The benefit of auto as well would also probably kill off the pricey LC200 chop conversions. Extended wheelbase is a big plus. I'm up for a wagon but understand how this would have big appeal in the Ute 4x4 dual cab market in Australia. |

If the Grenadier pickup version is dimensionally different from the station wagon version, would separate government certifications be required (crash test comes to mind)? As I recall the station wagon Grenadier dimensions posted (several months ago) were 194 inches (493 cm) overall length and 115 inches (292 cm) wheelbase. From the concept photos shown in this thread, the Grenadier pickup’s wheelbase seems similar to that of the station wagon. Will this limit the box length of the pickup bed to 48-54 inches (122-137 cm)? A bed box any longer would result in (1) cargo center of mass (uniformly distributed load) well back of the rear axle and (2) compromised departure angle.
Just to put some perspective for pickup dimensions, I drive a 2020 Toyota Tacoma double cab TRD Off-Road with a 5-foot (153 cm) bed box. The Tacoma’s overall length is 212.3 inches (539 cm) and wheelbase is 127.4 inches (324 cm). Most “mid-sized” double cab pickups marketed in the US try to achieve a minimum 5-foot bed box. Toyota’s flagship station wagon, Land Cruiser, measures 195 inches overall and wheelbase of 112 inches. Wheelbase and overall length of the Land Cruiser and Grenadier are dimensionally comparable. Please understand, I don’t think the Tacoma is in the same league as the Land Cruiser, but it is an easy search to use for comparison of capable off-roaders. If the Grenadier’s frame is lengthened to accommodate a pickup double cab version, would the frame need to be structurally re-engineered? Note the Tacoma’s wheelbase is 15.4 inches (39 cm) longer (14%) than the Land Cruiser, and the overall length is 17.3 inches (44 cm) longer (9%). Hopefully, Grenadier can produce a pickup double cab version within 5% of its station wagon dimensions. |

Station Wagon is 2921mm wheelbase; double-cab pick-up truck and a seven-seat station wagon, will be 3175mm.
