Whilst the search facility is invaluable and incredibly useful, it is fairly crude. Quite often you can achieve more precise results using Google and typing "site:defender2.net " followed by your search string. Many people don't know you can do this, but it allows searching for multiple words, you can have "must include" words, and so on.

Nitram, thank you for your kind words! Thumbs Up

Another session of scraping the chassis to remove flaking rust prior to painting.
So far the rear inner chassis rails up to the A frame mounts have been treated with two good coats of RC900 and two coats of Corroless paint.
From there up to the transfer casemounts have been rubbed back, and two coats RC900 applied. Tonight will be the 1st coat of paint for that section.

Tank guard has also been treated to a clean up and paint. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Been fitting a backup front diff to my 90, as well as new half shafts and CV joints.

After taking everything apart last weekend, yesterday I managed to essentially complete the re-fitting to the driver's side and made a start on the passenger side today and after over an hour of trying to get the CV joint over the spring clip on the half shaft, I have given up. Try again tomorrow and maybe even ask a local landy specialist to fit it for me.

The words that have been coming out of my mouth have not been family friendly. Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored Censored 2003 90 TD5 Hardtop

What started off as a โ€˜relativelyโ€™ simple job of upgrading the knackered original shocks to Fox turned into a 4 day epic of Plus Gas and Banging Head

Shocks - next time I need some ratchet ring spanners ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ Also fighting the turret out of the passenger front is a challenge. Bushes/washers arenโ€™t a great fit in the front shocks so had to rescue the centering washers from the old turret. Now that top nut is an absolute Censored to remove. Have ordered standard bushes/washers for the front and will replace. Have also now fitted gaiters with just a cable tie at the top

Brakes - whilst the wheel was off I noticed the pads/disc were really worn. Ordered full front and rear kit from LOF as need to take off the hub. Another job needing ratchet ring spanners to get the caliper off. Nearly lost the thread on one of the stub axles getting the nut off.

Halfshafts - another unexpected task - passenger side halfshaft splines were on the last legs. Ordered one piece halfshafts from LOF. Actually was an easy fit but could have provided paper gaskets

Doing the above and a full service has transformed the drive. Particularly the halfshafts have eliminated an annoying clunk whilst setting off. 2012 110 XS SW Orkney Grey

Back from 9 days enjoying the sun down in the Duchy, and pretty certain I spotted a few members whilst floating around the Lizard penisular.

Judging by the number of vans parked in laybys on our way back, we timed our departure about right Shocked

Took the roof bars off for the journey as wouldnt be needed, and very surprised by the difference they made to the fuel consumption. Quarter of a tank improvement over the 300 mile journey down and the same back, and that was with air con running pretty constantly. Was worth the 10 minutes after all Thumbs Up 2007 - Stornoway Grey 90 XS SW - Gone

@DG123: Quietly chuckled to myself reading about getting the turret through on the passenger side!! Rediculously tight isnโ€™t it!

Ha, ha Co1. An absolute Censored
It is so frustrating; so many nuts/bolts/parts are so inaccessible. Surely everyone would benefit if ease of access/repair was built in at the design stage. Land Rover are not in any way the only guilty party in this respect. 2012 110 XS SW Orkney Grey

I picked up my Adventure 110 today from Marshall LR, Melton Mowbray, after it had been in for paint warranty work. 5 years 7 months old.

So this what they did,
1. New Windscreen surround and window blocks
2. Roof resprayed, due to very small paint bubble
3. And a complete new B pillar, including bottom inner sill, through to C pillar. Picture attached. They even fitted a new genuine rear door seal, no charge.

Great service, and no quibbling with them at all,

Absolutely gob smacked, and very pleased. They only had it for 2 weeks. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜

Wound down the windows as it was a beautifully sunny spring like day. Drove and sailed through every gear change. Didn't come across any idiots on the road. And just thought, I love this car. Just wouldn't want anything else. Imperfect beauty to a tee.

Once home did a few tidy up bits an pieces on the car. Thumbs Up

Called around looking for new tyers. But finding as all things related to my car at the moment, just a straight up lame attitude from people that I am wanting to give money to. I don't get it. In my small business, new work is welcomed. I guess it must be different in the automotive world - just dismiss customers. Oh well, I'l keep my cash for now....

Pulled the front bumper off. Sprayed a load of ACF-50. So nice to finally be spanering on my car, it's been a while.
