1995 110CSW Epsom Green to Keswick
This thread will follow the change of doors and journey of my Epsom Green 110CSW becoming a 110 CSW in Keswick Green (with black accent bits).

1st the new doors as the old ones looked like this (and this is probably the best of 4)

New doors were sourced and the painting began

Passenger front was the first to go on

Just the doorcard to go back on this one now, it was too hot yesterday to work in full sun at any sort of speed. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.

Looking good Thumbs Up . And I like your painting stands.

I am sure you have it all thought through but....

If you are planning on taking off the infill panels behind the second row doors be prepared to have to repair the c pillars and possibly repair or replace the cross-member. Once you have gone to all the effort of renewing the doors and paint I would highly recommend Gwyn Lewis mud shields to keep the areas around the arches clean and slow down any future corrosion in these areas.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing the progress.

I tidied up all that area and fitted the Gwynn Lewis mud shields front and rear a few years ago. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.

So the "Tart Up" continues.....

Time for the old drivers door or to be precise what is left of it to come off..

The doors have come from DDS Metal Services in Coventry.

I'm not 100% sure that I have the correct version for the fronts though as I have had to make up a couple of brackets for the bottom of the window regulator panels but not a long job and the doors otherwise seem excellent. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.

The second row doors are coming along.

Treated the galvanised frames first (and remembered to take a picture this time)

Then prepped and etch primer

And the 1st coat of filler primer

I'm hoping the weather lets me get the 2nd coat of filler primer on later. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.

Trying to get the doors done and on for an upcoming trip so soldiering on when the weather (and work) permits.

Filler primer went on the 2nd row doors the other day...

As stated on another post I bit the bullet so to speak on some LR Parts Aluminium door handles.

The finish is good but alas the sizing is a bit off and three don't have the door skin slot machined in.

With some auspicious use of an angle grinder and a steady hand two are now on and looking the part.

I was starting to think it was the cutouts in the doors but having measured the ones in the DDS front doors against the originals there is less than 0.5mm in it and the issue is more like 2mm Big Cry

The remaining ones (2nd row) will be dealt with as necessary but as they dont have locks may be slightly easier.

Anyway here is a picture of the passenger front fitted (the drivers and ignition/steering lock are also done but rain prevented me from hanging around to take pictures).

This looks great, I would love to have a go at this. Is this something anyone can do or are you a painter to trade with all the gear & equipment needed?

Definitely not a painter and have ended up buying also sorts of prep gear etc in order to do the job.

It is being rollered on and seems to be pretty smooth as long as you get enough but not too much paint on.

The stand for painting the doors was about £20 worth of wood plus scraps and screws that I had already.

The big thing is not skipping degreasing and tack cloths before applying the paint and trying to miss the worst of the humidity. 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green- Slowly Turning into Keswick Green - It's a keeper.

ah ok, i just assumed you were spraying them. They look brilliant, what a cracking job you are making of them. Staying in Scotland, the humidity might be an issue for me Laughing

Great job, Keswick is the perfect color for a Defender IMHO.
Our 2013 Defender 90 which we ordered new was Keswick, & we specified an Indus Silver roof to go with the alloy wheels & chequreplate etc.
