I'm going to the Game Fair and have an invite from Guns on Pegs to have a look at the Grenadier and listen to their lead engineer....should be good!

Good video with a lot of HD close ups of switch details, trims, fabrics, materials etc.

I quite like the inside

The outside - All good also - except

Front Bumper
Side Utility rails on the doors
Hanging rails at the top - where the Alpine Windows should be

If it looks as good in the flesh and works as well as advertised - with a price similar to the guide - AND they sort a service network out... I can see this being a hit!

Ah one of the most sneaky switch setting on the Army Land Rovers was the convoy setting in your picture SC, the amount of
high class and expensive German autos that piled into the back of our wagons in Germany as we slowed down to leave the
tarmac, as the setting disabled the brake lights 😂 Funny how the brake lights magically worked when the Polizei
turned up to the accident Whistle

From the Powerful UK Wales video.

Interesting to see space/option for the 2nd battery:

I had a good look at it at the Game Fair last Friday. It is definitely a prototype, the interior plastics were cheap and nasty, lots to improve upon. It did look purposeful, the front bumper looked appreciably worse in the flesh than in the pics. I’ll still put my name down for one, just hope the interior and the bumper get sorted properly.

When I was speaking with the lady on the stand she said a lot of the interior is 3D printed to show what it will look like and the materials will be changed for production. I did manage to have a good look as was allowed a quick sit in it and you could tell that it isn't nowhere near a production version, and the seating is very comfy Very Happy

I agree with previous comments that the gear selector lever is stylistically out of place. However I got talking to a good friend who is very closely involved with the Grenadier project. He says that to redesign this piece would have cost circa £3k per vehicle to change. The retool, test and certification costs are vast and have already been done by BMW. The extra cost would have to be passed on to the end customers and the conclusion was that it is not worth it. I kind of agree.
As for the rest, I think I like it. But want to see a final production version before making up my mind finally.

£3k per vehicle? Shocked

Say that was across the 1st years production, 25k, then that would mean £75 million for the project. Sounds more than a tad expensive.

If the biggest negative is just that gear selector then theyve done a pretty good job.
For me it looks out of a bit out of place but i honestly couldnt give a toss what it looks like oif everything else is good

Seems the original BMW shifter has some advantages over designing your own...

To be fair the design of the shifter on the New Defender is prone to 'accidental driving in the wrong direction' Rolling Eyes I've accidentally done it myself a couple of times but fortunately not paid for my mistakes.

There's no physical protection against accidentally NOT changing from Drive to Reverse or vice versa if you forget to depress the button on the front of the shifter.

Hopefully the Grenadier will NOT suffer the same 'weakness' in this space... Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

It is a poor design (I very nearly drove into a new XC90 turning around on a Volvo dealer forecourt), but it’s not the only one like it…
