Buy a yacht. Sailing burns money. Burns even more money in the marina when you are not using it

We have horses , currently 3 but one is leased out so its actually bringing in money rather than eating it. Can't complain too much as one is mine but I'm planning on stopping before I'm 50 and getting a boat. Living near the Dorset coast itll be rude not to have a boat of
some sort. My day job is boat building but I'll never be in a position to buy the ones we build, several million and eye watering running costs. |

Land Rover and Sunseeker have had a number of connections over the years.
Many moons ago a Discovery (I or II) towing a matching 21 foot Mustang runabout was one of them. These days that whole rig would fit in the tender garage of a modern Sunseeker yacht. How the rich and frivolous have lost all sense of scale.  1998 Tdi 90 SW,

I'm not aware of Marcus Dodd being involved any longer. The Sunseeker rally stopped several years ago now, I believe?
It's pretty impressive how far Sunseeker have come from very small beginnings, a 17ft day boat to the 161ft due to be completed early next year. I'm hoping to get hold of am early Mexico/Mustang/Hawk as a project but they are quite elusive...and most often abroad. |

Yes is / was a rally driver as well as business man........it was in the depths of my memory that he sold Sunseeker some years back but can't 100% recall....

As you say, a wonderful success story. Has come a long way from Robert Braithwaite´s backyard outfit, and selling through small ads in MBY. He and his brother were very brave and far thinking coming up with the Sunseeker brand name. Spot on!

I sold both my project cars when we emigrated to Luxembourg last year, I had a 2003 Mx5 NB which had suspension, exhaust and wheel mods and a V8 Audi S5 which I’d just put a custom exhaust on. They both accounted for a fair bit of my expenditure, I’m into photography, that’s not cheap, but I’m sorted equipment wise now, I love watches, I have a modest collection, an Omega Seamaster everyday wear, a Longines, couple of Grand Seiko and a financial plan in place to allow me to get my absolute grail watch an A Lange & Sohne in a few years time.
We are looking to sell up and go travelling in a few years time so money is now being diverted to funding that, hence our currently processing purchase of a 130 based overland vehicle. |

If you've got a canal nearby, a narrow boat is an excellent way to spend lots of money. Just be aware that it's probably necessary to be either a drug addict or an alcoholic to get the most out of them though.
We're not drug addicts.... And the warnings about just how much money boats consume, above, apply here too. As an aside, we were concerned that our eco-diesel engined narrow boat, with an eco-diesel fired central heating system, was too polluting and eco-unfriendly, entirely due to its multi-fuel stove. So I've just replaced the stove with a St. Greta approved eco-diesel fired one. No more horrible, polluting, sooty, coal and wood smoke. Lovely. |

Totally agree ,- I was reading through this thread wondering why no one was suggesting volunteer/helping a charity. I am an Explorer Scout Leader and also combine this with supporting a school in Uganda. Also get involved with many other community initiatives by people asking the scouts to help. |
